After drinking alcohol, the heart rate is about 140 beats per minute, physiological and pathological, generally physiological is not life-threatening, do not need to deal with, after resting can be restored to normal; pathological common tachyarrhythmia, alcoholic cardiomyopathy, generally more dangerous, and need to be treated in time.
1. Physiological: after drinking, alcohol and its metabolites will stimulate the heart muscle cells, causing sympathetic nerve excitation, resulting in a faster heartbeat, there can be a heart rate of 140 beats per minute or so of physiological tachycardia, generally do not need special treatment, after resting, can be restored to normal. Normal human heartbeat is 60-100 times/minute in quiet state, more than 100 times/minute, for tachycardia.
2. Pathologic:
(1) induced tachyarrhythmia: alcohol can lead to electrical remodeling of the heart, induced atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and other tachyarrhythmias, the patient’s heart rate exceeds 100 beats/minute, persistent unrelieved, generally more dangerous, need to go to the hospital, to prevent prolonged vicious arrhythmia caused by heart failure or even sudden death.
(2) Alcoholic cardiomyopathy: it can be caused by drinking too much alcohol, patients often combined with atrial fibrillation, ventricular pre-systole and other cardiac arrhythmias, heart rate up to 140 beats/minute or so, generally more dangerous, early diagnosis and treatment is conducive to the prognosis of the disease, and patients with late combined with severe heart failure have a shorter survival period.
If you have a heart rate of 140 beats per minute after drinking alcohol, it is recommended that you go to the cardiology department of the hospital in time to find out the cause and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
