Gigantism and dwarfism have different causes, different clinical manifestations and different treatment modalities. 1. Different causes: Gigantism is caused by excessive secretion of growth hormone during puberty, while dwarfism is caused by growth hormone deficiency. 2. Different clinical manifestations: the increase of growth hormone in patients with gigantism can lead to the overgrowth of muscles, bones, cartilage and other organs and tissues, resulting in abnormally tall stature and rugged face; while dwarfism is characterized by delayed growth and development of bones and body, short stature, wrinkles on the skin and face, but normal intellectual development. 3. Different treatment modes: Gigantism patients mostly use surgery to remove the growth hormone-secreting pituitary tumors, while dwarfism patients mostly use growth hormone supplementation method of treatment. Abnormally tall or short stature should go to the hospital in time, complete the examination, and carry out regular treatment after clear diagnosis.
