Back pain during menstruation may be caused by dysmenorrhea, or it may be caused by the patient’s own presence of herniated discs, muscle strains and other reasons.
1. Dysmenorrhea: the endometrial prostaglandin content increases during menstruation, which can cause excessive contraction of uterine smooth muscle and vascular contracture, resulting in uterine ischemia and hypoxia and dysmenorrhea. This kind of pain can radiate to the lower back and back pain occurs.
2. Intervertebral disc herniation: On the basis of degenerative changes in the intervertebral discs, a herniated intervertebral disc caused by an external force or no clear cause compresses the spinal cord and/or nerve roots, resulting in back pain.
3. Muscle strain: injury caused by sharp contraction or excessive pulling of muscles during exercise. When the back muscles are strained, patients may experience pain, redness, swelling and other symptoms.
Back pain during menstruation can also be caused by other reasons, and it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
