Is getting a cataract and getting a lens the same thing?

Getting a cataract and lens implantation are not the same thing. Lens implantation should refer to the process of implanting an artificial lens during cataract surgery, and it is recommended to consult your doctor for details. Cataract is a visual disorder caused by reduced transparency or color change of the lens, which can be treated by cataract extracapsular extraction, ultrasonic emulsification cataract aspiration, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract extraction, artificial lens implantation and other surgical procedures. Normally, all cataract surgery requires the implantation of an IOL. After surgical cutting, the patient replaces the crystals inside the fundus, and vision can be restored to normal after replacing them with new crystals. IOL implantation should refer to the process of implanting an IOL during cataract surgery, therefore, cataract surgery and IOL implantation are not the same thing. Cataracts should be taken seriously and patients are advised to seek prompt medical treatment.
