How long can you take ALK-targeted drugs

ALK refers to one of the types of lung adenocarcinoma gene mutation. The time of targeted drug administration is not fixed, and it can be applied all the time if the drug treatment is effective and the side effects are tolerable; if the treatment is ineffective or drug-resistant, it is necessary to consider replacing the targeted drug in time. The incidence of ALK gene rearrangement in lung adenocarcinoma is about 6%~8%; it is also called golden gene mutation in clinic, and most of the patients are treated with targeted drugs with good results. The time of taking targeted drugs is not exactly the same; after treatment with drugs, imaging examination should be carried out in 2~3 months to assess the change of lesion size and evaluate the effect of treatment; if taking targeted drugs, the effect is good and the condition is stable, it can be taken all the time. If tumor enlargement occurs after taking the targeted drug, and tumor progression is evaluated, the type of drug needs to be changed. During the period of taking targeted drugs for patients with ALK gene rearrangement, they should regularly review the blood routine, liver and kidney functions and other indexes, and if they have any uncomfortable symptoms, they should go to the hospital in time and consult the physician’s guidance.
