Is calcification of fibroids a good thing?

Calcified fibroids are benign lesions of uterine fibroids, but calcified fibroids can also become malignant, and it is not possible to simply say whether they are good or bad. Calcification of fibroids is a symptom of localized recovery of the fibroid, and as the fibroid continues to grow, the local tissue stays growing and active. When a fibroid calcifies, it means that the fibroid loses its growth activity and does not continue to grow, and is therefore considered a good clinical sign. After fibroid calcification, if the patient does not show any discomfort, it can be left untreated. However, if the calcified fibroid is large and presses on other tissues, and symptoms such as vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain occur, then surgical treatment is needed. However, it should be noted that there is also a possibility of malignant transformation after calcified fibroids. Patients should undergo regular checkups and be judged by a professional doctor to give surgical treatment if necessary.
