Herpes zoster, or “snake sores” in Chinese medicine, can be used with western medicines if the evidence is of liver meridian heat, but the medication needs to be taken at intervals of more than half an hour.
Clinically, one of the common symptoms of snake sores is liver meridian heat, symptoms include bright red skin lesions, burning and stinging pain, bitter mouth and dry throat, irritability, dry stools, yellow and red urine, red tongue, thin yellow or yellowish moss, slippery pulse, etc. If the above symptoms are manifested, Gentian Liver Pills can be used in combination with western medicines.
If the above symptoms are manifested, Longdian Diarrhea Pill is a more commonly used medication, which can help to clear damp-heat in the liver and gallbladder. It can also be treated with antiviral drugs such as acyclovir, as long as the medication is spaced out.
For other types of snake sores, Gentian Liver Disease Pills should not be used. Consult your doctor for specific medication.
