Is abo hemolysis the same as hemolytic jaundice?

ABO hemolysis is not the same as hemolytic jaundice, which is a symptom of ABO hemolysis. There are various blood group systems in humans, the most common of which is the ABO blood group system.ABO hemolysis is a condition in which the mother and the child, have a blood group incompatibility of the ABO blood group system, and hence the newborn develops hemolytic disease. This commonly occurs when the mother has type O blood and the fetus has type A or B blood. Hemolytic jaundice occurs because the mother and child do not have the same blood type and the antibodies destroy the child’s red blood cells. When the red blood cells are destroyed, a large amount of bilirubin is released into the child’s bloodstream, so the child’s blood bilirubin level rises, leading to yellowing of the skin and the symptoms of hemolytic jaundice. The above condition is common when there is a blood group incompatibility between mother and child, and after a large number of red blood cells are destroyed, it will lead to jaundice in the newborn.
