Steps in tetanus desensitization therapy

To prevent the tetanus bacillus from invading the wound and causing tetanus, tetanus antivenom is usually required for prophylaxis after injury. Before injection of tetanus antivenom, if the skin test is positive, the desensitization injection method needs to be used as follows: The antivenom to be injected should be diluted 10 times with isotonic saline and then injected subcutaneously in several times. The first dose is 1 ml, followed by 2, 3 and 4 ml, for a total of four injections, each separated by 30 minutes, until all injections are completed. However, this method may still cause allergic reactions. For patients who are still allergic to the desensitization injection method, it is best to switch to human tetanus immunoglobulin for treatment. Patients are advised to wait patiently in the observation area of the hospital during the desensitization injections and to inform the doctor of any discomfort.
