How long does it take to recover from surgery for squamous lung cancer?

The time needed for recovery after surgery for patients with squamous lung cancer fluctuates between 1 to 6 months. The recovery time after surgery for squamous lung cancer is mainly affected by the patient’s physical condition, clinical stage of squamous lung cancer and side effects of postoperative anti-tumor treatment. Generally speaking, the better the patient’s physical condition, the earlier the clinical stage, and the less the side effects of postoperative anti-tumor treatment, the shorter the recovery time required by the patient. In general, for patients with stage I squamous lung cancer with good physical condition, chemotherapy and other anti-tumor treatments are not needed after surgery, so most of the patients can return to normal in about one month after surgery. For patients with poor physical condition and late clinical stage, the side effects of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy and other anti-tumor treatments are larger, which usually prolongs the time of postoperative recovery, with some patients needing 2~3 months and some patients recovering only after about half a year after operation.
