How to treat an inflamed abscess on the nerve of a tooth

Inflammation of the dental nerve is also known as pulpitis in clinical practice. When an abscess is caused, local drainage and then pulp preservation treatment can be carried out, including direct pulp capping, indirect pulp capping, etc.; if it is not possible to preserve the pulp, then the option of preserving the affected tooth and root canal treatment can be carried out. 1. Pulp preservation treatment: (1) Direct pulp capping: local drainage can be used first, and then choose to fill the pulp tissue with bioactive materials, which can protect the pulp. (2) Indirect pulp capping: If the inflammation of the nerve is severe and the degree of purulent reaction is large, the symptoms of pulpitis can be relieved by indirect pulp capping, but the material should not be in direct contact with the pulp. 2. Tooth-preserving treatment: mainly root canal treatment, which is to first open the pulp and drain the purulent secretion, and clean up the necrotic tissue of the pulp to prevent secondary infection. After the inflammation is completely eliminated, the root canal is then filled to complete the treatment. If the dental nerve inflammation caused by abscess has obvious pain, should follow the doctor’s prescription oral analgesic, such as ibuprofen, the specific medication should follow the doctor’s instructions strictly, not unauthorized use.
