Can HPV infection cause cervical hypertrophy?

HPV infection usually does not cause cervical hypertrophy. Cervical hypertrophy is caused by long-term stimulation of chronic cervicitis, because the stimulation of inflammation will easily lead to the gradual proliferation of the cells of the cervix, enlargement, and active synthesis of structural proteins and other causes. If there is HPV infection, it is necessary to promptly exclude whether there is cervical lesions. Cervical hypertrophy routinely has no obvious symptoms, but a small number of patients may have persistent and recurrent increase in vaginal discharge. In severe cases, it may also be accompanied by vulvar itching, vaginal bleeding, vaginal odor and so on. If a gynecological examination is performed, it can be found that the discharge may flow out of the cervical opening in time. If there are no symptoms, cervical hypertrophy can be treated without special treatment; if there are obvious symptoms, then it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for symptomatic treatment.
