Centella asiatica can treat acne that belongs to the damp-heat syndrome and can relieve its redness, swelling, heat and pain. Centella asiatica, belongs to the liver, spleen and kidney meridians, bitter, pungent flavor, cold nature. It has the efficacy of activating blood circulation, subduing swelling, clearing away heat, inducing diuresis and detoxification, and is mainly used in the treatment of fever, sore throat, coughing and wheezing, intestinal inflammation, jaundice with damp-heat, dysentery, oedema, blood in the urine, and gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, dripping and astringent pain). This drug can be taken internally as well as externally. When used externally, the juice is usually twisted and applied or pounded and applied externally to the affected area. This drug is bitter and cold, not suitable for people with cold spleen and stomach, such people should take with caution.
