Difference between student’s elbow and tennis elbow

The difference between student’s elbow and tennis elbow lies in the different sites and mechanisms of onset. 1. Student’s elbow: also known as medial epicondylitis of the humerus, the onset site is on the inner side of the elbow joint, mainly causing pain on the inner side of the elbow joint. Student’s elbow is an injury to the flexor carpi radialis brevis tendon. The pathogenesis is related to the strong stretching stress on the flexor carpi radialis brevis tendon when swinging the arm and hitting the ball, which is mainly due to the overuse of the flexor carpi radialis brevis tendon. It is mostly seen in students and golfers, so it is called student’s elbow and golfer’s elbow. 2. Tennis elbow: Tennis elbow is also known as lateral epicondylitis of the humerus, which develops on the lateral side of the elbow joint and causes pain on the lateral side of the elbow joint. Tennis elbow is an injury to the tendon of the extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle, and the pathogenesis is related to the stress generated by the vigorous and rapid flexion of the elbow and wrist. It is mostly seen in tennis players and badminton players. Student’s elbow and tennis elbow can cause elbow pain, and if the pain flares up, you should go to the hospital for further treatment.
