Infantile cholestasis, how to treat it

The cause of infantile cholestasis needs to be identified first, and then targeted treatment can be carried out through medication or surgery.

1. If infantile cholestasis is caused by a viral infection, it can be treated with oral or intravenous antiviral drugs, such as ganciclovir, under the supervision of a physician, or with liver-protecting drugs, such as liver-protecting tablets, and drugs to promote the excretion of bile, such as ursodeoxycholic acid, to treat the disease.

2. If the infant’s cholestasis is caused by congenital diseases such as biliary atresia or choledochal cysts, surgical treatment is needed to promote the excretion of bile.

When infants suffer from cholestasis, they need to be brought to the pediatrician in the hospital in time to identify the cause of the disease and then give targeted interventions to avoid causing serious complications. The above medications should be used under medical supervision.
