Depression is a common disease that endangers human physical and mental health. About 13-20% of people have experienced depression in their lifetime, and its lifetime prevalence is 6.1-9.5%. Experts believe that with the increased pressure of people’s lives and the accelerated pace of work, more people will feel stressed, fatigued and depressed, and with economic constraints, unemployment and layoffs, the incidence will further increase. Since the vast majority of depression onset age is in the working age group, 15% of severe depression can die by suicide. In other words, depression can both affect people’s work and endanger the patient’s life. In fact, there is always a time in a person’s life when he or she lives in a depressed state of mind, which is an experience of sadness, grief or depression, or what we often call “unhappiness”. Depression is characterized by low mood, sullenness or sadness that lasts at least 2 weeks and causes some degree of social functioning, and is accompanied by 4 of the following symptoms: 1. loss of interest in daily life, no sense of enjoyment. 2. 2. Significant loss of energy and unexplained persistent fatigue. 3. Psychomotor retardation or agitation. 4.Low self-evaluation, or self-blame, or feeling of guilt. 5.Difficulty in association and significant decrease in self-learning and thinking ability. 6.Recurrent thoughts of death and suicide. 7.Insomnia, early awakening, or excessive sleep. 8.Loss of appetite, significant weight loss. 9.Significant loss of sexual desire. It is not only related to many mental and physical diseases, but also closely related to many factors of social and external environment. For example, poverty, unemployment, marital problems, family discord, old age and disability can induce depression. People with depression can be corrected with proper self-adjustment and psychotherapy. Only when the depressed state of mind develops to a certain degree, has the basic characteristics of depression, and lasts for a period of time, affecting one’s study, work and life, does it become depression. In other words, depression is not equal to depression, but depression can develop into depression if it is not adjusted and treated in time. Depressed patients usually do not go to the hospital voluntarily, therefore, there is a great insidiousness. Patients may suffer from a lack of interest in family life that leads to the breakup of the family; a lack of concentration on work that often goes wrong; some successful people who have a successful career and live a very affluent life may also take the road to suicide due to depression. The insidious nature of depression is the demon that endangers the patient’s life. Therefore, when someone around us has a dull expression, sad face, lazy speech, low mood, no interest in things around and other performance for more than two weeks, we should consider whether they are suffering from depression, and should be advised to see a psychiatrist for early detection and timely treatment to avoid accidents. In the modern fast-paced life, the incidence of depression will gradually increase, people should learn to adapt to society, develop their own good attitude to deal with various unexpected events and injuries, as soon as possible from the depressed state of mind; self-solving difficulties, people should promptly find a psychiatrist, accept the treatment of psychologists, with the help of doctors around the bend; family members patiently accept the “nagging” of family members, but also is the “magic weapon” to prevent depression.
