Do you need to treat a lymphoma that’s been enlarged for a few years?

Enlarged lymph nodes need to be treated for several years, and the treatment modes are different according to different causes; common causes of enlarged lymph nodes include: chronic lymphadenitis, tuberculous lymphadenitis, malignant lymph node tumors, pseudolymphoma caused by desiccation syndrome, and so on, and medications are prescribed according to the causes. 1. Chronic lymphadenitis: also known as proliferative lymphadenitis, the disease often appears long-term unchanged lymph node enlargement. Inflammation control, such as taking penicillin, or surgical resection for pathologic biopsy. 2. Tuberculous lymphadenitis: this disease is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, the course of the disease is prolonged, and anti-tuberculosis treatment can be carried out, such as taking rifampicin, isoniazid and other drugs. 3. Lymphoma: patients with this disease have progressive enlargement of lymph nodes, which is easy to be misdiagnosed as lymphadenitis and delayed treatment. It is usually treated with simple radiotherapy or combined with chemotherapy (such as adriamycin, vincristine, interferon, etc.), and bone marrow transplantation is also available. 4. Pseudolymphoma: This disease is caused by dry syndrome, and secondary lymphoma can occur, which is progressive, with a benign process of dryness of the mouth and eyes, and there is still obvious infiltration of lymphoid cells outside of the lineal glands, which needs to be treated with glucocorticosteroids (e.g., prednisolone, etc.) and immune agents (e.g., interferon, etc.) by a professional immunologist. Patients with several years of enlarged lymph nodes should seek medical attention as soon as possible to determine the cause of the disease and to prevent delays in treatment.
