Indicators of delayed speech development in children

  Although the progress of each child’s language development varies depending on many factors, if a child cannot say meaningful single words, such as mommy, daddy, goodbye, etc., by the age of two; or cannot say complete sentences by the age of three, parents must begin to seek expert assistance in diagnosis and in developing a language education plan specific to their delayed child.”
  The following are the developmental indicators of hearing and speech abnormalities, as long as one of them is met, parents had better consider taking their children to the doctor for examination.
  Indicators of delayed language development.
  0~3 months  
  Hearing development
  No startle response to loud noises
  Judgment of language development
  Does not make cooing or gurgling sounds
  Does not make crying or pleasure noises
  4~6 months  
  Judgment of hearing development
  Does not respond to changes in pitch.
  Does not look at and search for the source of sound
  Judgment of language development
  The child’s language does not contain different sounds.
  Does not express excitement or anger through sounds.
  7~12 months  
  Judgment of Hearing Development
  Does not have the ability to turn and look at the sound source.
  Does not respond to commands such as: come here, yes or no, etc.
  Judgment of language development
  The child’s speech does not contain repeated syllables.
  Does not use verbal or non-crying sounds to gain or maintain attention.
  1~2 years old  
  Judgment of Hearing Development
  Cannot identify body parts or pictures in books.
  Cannot follow or understand simple instructions such as throwing a ball or getting a shoe.
  Judgment of language development
  Vocabulary does not increase significantly each month.
  Does not use two single words to form a sentence. For example, “Mommy drinks water” is formed by combining mommy and water.
  Does not use words such as: what? Where? etc.
  2~3 years old  
  Auditory development judgment
  Cannot distinguish the meaning of e.g. up and down, size.
  Cannot successfully complete two-step command actions. For example, picks up a book and puts it on the table again.
  Judgment of language development
  Cannot use two- to three-word phrases to express ideas and requests. Familiar listeners in the home are unable to successfully understand the child’s verbal expressions.  Not all children are able to communicate properly with us verbally. There are some little ones who are unable to communicate normally with the outside world due to some irresistible reasons, such as severe mental deficiencies or disease factors, or even unknown reasons, and then parents need to be more patient and seek professional medical assistance. In fact, the purpose of language is communication, mastering the correct language parenting methods, giving children love and courage, as well as the baby in the growth stage of various language learning problems, smoothly open the “talk box”, as a good little opinion leader.
