Characteristics of benign pulmonary nodules

The characteristics of benign pulmonary nodules can be summarized as small diameter, regular morphology, clear borders, no lobulation, uniform density, and no significant short-term changes. Lung nodule is a swelling with higher density than lung tissue found in lung imaging examination, with the morphology of round-like or irregular shape and clear or unclear boundary. They are broadly categorized into benign and malignant nodules based on imaging patterns and clinical manifestations. Benign lung nodules are generally smaller in diameter, generally regular in shape, mostly round-like, with smooth edges and no burr edges, and most of the nodules are solid, with no obvious internal lobulation or deep lobulation and uniform density. In the short-term follow-up, there was no significant change in the size and shape of the nodules. In long-term follow-up, the nodules may also remain stable. The prognosis of benign lung nodules requires not only observing the characteristics of the nodule itself, but also combining with the patient’s condition and clinical manifestations, etc. It is recommended that the patient seek medical treatment in a timely manner, and follow the guidance of a professional doctor.
