The full name of Qianjin Fang is Qianjin Yaofang (千金要方), which is a book that contains several prescriptions that can cure epilepsy. Qianjin Yaofang is a medical masterpiece by Sun Simiao of the Tang Dynasty, which contains a large number of articles on the causes and mechanisms of epilepsy and its treatment. The viewpoint in the book is that epilepsy is related to the causes of congenital insufficiency of endowment (bad innate constitution and functioning), imbalance of yin and yang, mental stimulation, and dysfunction of internal organs, etc. Its main treatment is based on dispelling wind and resolving phlegm (dispelling wind and resolving phlegm evils). The Thousand Golden Essentials Formula records a large number of formulas for treating epilepsy, such as the Five Epileptic Formulas, the Tiger’s Eye Pill, and the Renewal of Vitality Wind-inducing Soup, etc. These formulas are composed of Poria cocos, gypsum, ginseng, ginseng, Yuanzhi, and Chuanxiong, which are effective in dispelling wind and eliminating phlegm, and in elevating the yang to dissolve the blood stasis. It should be noted that the adverse reactions and contraindications of the above mentioned tonics are not yet clear. It is prohibited for those who are allergic to the ingredients of Chinese medicines, and should be used with caution by allergic persons, pregnant women and those who are physically weak. Chinese medicine should be used under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner to recognize the evidence, and should not be used blindly on its own, so as not to delay the condition.
