Omeprazole oral preparation, if not specifically medically prescribed, is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer, Helicobacter pylori infection, etc. Depending on the condition, the duration of use ranges from 1 to 12 weeks, and some require long-term maintenance therapy. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (1) Diagnostic treatment: If not specifically prescribed, its duration is 1~2 weeks. (2) Initial treatment: 4 to 8 weeks if not specifically prescribed. (3) Maintenance therapy: Long-term maintenance therapy is required for those with GERD and severe erosive esophagitis or Barrett’s esophagus. 2. Peptic ulcer: If not specifically prescribed, the course of treatment should be 4 to 8 weeks. For those with high-risk factors and huge ulcers, it is recommended to extend the course of treatment to 12 weeks. 3. Helicobacter pylori infection eradication treatment: if not specifically prescribed, the general course of treatment is 10 to 14 days. It should be noted that the drug is contraindicated in cases of drug allergy, severe renal impairment, infants and young children. Hepatic insufficiency should be consumed with caution, the drug needs to be used under the guidance of clinicians.
