Whether there is something wrong with the back of the head after a fall needs to be judged based on imaging or clinical manifestations. If the patient does not have clinical manifestations such as impaired consciousness, vomiting, pain, dizziness, etc. after the fall, it means that there is no particularly serious cerebral parenchymal injury. However, a cranial CT examination is needed to confirm whether there is any intracranial injury. If there are manifestations such as headache and dizziness, which may be caused by concussion, there is no problem if there is no serious condition such as unconsciousness and severe headache after medical treatment and rest for 3 days. If there is slight bleeding or small soft tissue contusion, then you need to seek medical treatment such as bandages or cold compresses. A fall and landing on the back of the head may cause subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral hemorrhage in serious cases, which requires immediate medical attention or may endanger the patient’s life. Patients with mild conditions and no abnormalities on CT examination are advised to keep observation, because some patients will have delayed chronic subdural edema, especially the elderly. Therefore, it is necessary to seek medical attention to clarify the diagnosis.
