Is knee replacement recommended for 70 to 80 year olds?

Knee replacement surgery is recommended for 70 to 80 year olds who are able to withstand the trauma of surgery and have the desire to undergo surgery.
Knee replacement surgery is mainly used for patients with severe osteoarthritis, replacing the function of the diseased knee joint with an artificial one to enable the patient to perform daily life. The procedure is suitable for most elderly patients between the ages of 70 and 80, and is recommended as long as the patient is physically able to withstand the surgery and the patient and family request it.
Contraindications to the procedure are: patients who cannot tolerate the trauma of the procedure, patients who do not want to undergo the procedure, and patients who do not want to take the risks of the procedure. After knee replacement, the patient is able to stand on the floor within 3 days, avoiding many of the complications associated with prolonged bed rest (e.g. pneumonia, urinary tract infections, acne, venous thrombosis of the lower extremities, etc.).
As each person’s underlying condition is different, whether or not the knee can be replaced is recommended to be analyzed according to the doctor’s comprehensive judgment after visiting the hospital for examination.
