Possible causes of arm and shoulder joint pain include: excessive exercise, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injury, subacromial impingement syndrome, cervical spondylosis, myofasciitis, trauma, heart disease and so on.
1. Excessive exercise: Excessive exercise of the upper limbs can lead to the accumulation of lactic acid in the local muscles, causing soreness at the joint of the arm and shoulder, which is usually relieved after rest.
2. Frozen shoulder: Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a chronic inflammation of the shoulder joint capsule caused by various reasons, followed by adhesion and fibrosis of the joint capsule, resulting in shoulder pain and impaired movement.
3. Rotator cuff injury: rotator cuff injury is mostly secondary to severe upper limb strain injury or chronic degenerative changes, mostly seen in middle-aged and old people, mainly manifested as pain around the shoulder joint and impaired joint activities, pain aggravated after activities and relieved after rest.
4. Subacromial impingement syndrome: subacromial impingement syndrome is one of the most important causes of rotator cuff injury, rotator cuff tendon impingement with the anterior edge of the acromion when the upper limb is lifted up, and the long-term repeated impingement will cause chronic tendon injury, and there will be oedema, oozing, adhesion and other chronic inflammatory reactions.
5. Cervical spondylosis: the typical clinical manifestation of nerve root cervical spondylosis is radiating pain in the neck, shoulder and upper extremity nerves, accompanied by upper extremity sensory abnormality, numbness, unfavorable activity and other nerve compression manifestations.
There are other causes of arm and shoulder pain, such as trauma, heart disease, etc. If persistent shoulder pain occurs, it is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible to find out the cause, and follow the doctor’s instructions to be targeted treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
