Effects of Licorice and Tu Fu Ling

Licorice has the effect of benefiting qi and tonifying the middle, clearing heat and removing toxins (removing heat and toxicity from the body), and can be used for laryngeal paralysis (redness, swelling and pain in the pharynx, or dryness, a feeling of foreign bodies, or itchy and discomfort in the throat, and difficulty in swallowing), and evidence of a weak spleen and tiredness; Poria cocos has the effect of removing dampness, detoxifying and so on, and can be used for itchy eczema and so on. Glycyrrhiza glabra is a traditional Chinese medicine with flat nature and sweet taste, which belongs to the heart, lung and spleen meridians. Its effects are clearing away heat and removing toxins, moistening the lungs and relieving cough, easing pain (relieving more urgent pain symptoms), benefiting the qi and tonifying the middle, and harmonizing the medicinal properties. It is used for treating cough and asthma, medicine and food poisoning, spleen deficiency and lethargy, heart deficiency and palpitation, carbuncle and laryngeal paralysis (redness, swelling, heat and pain in the pharynx), and spasmodic pain in the epigastrium (abdomen) and limbs. The adverse effects of this product are not clear, and it is contraindicated to be used with seaweed, halberd, licorice, coriander and farnesol. Note that licorice is sweet in flavor, and should not be taken by people with chest and abdominal distension and vomiting due to the prevalence of dampness. Poria cocos is flat in nature, sweet and light in flavor, and belongs to the liver and stomach meridians. It is effective in facilitating the joints, detoxifying and removing dampness. It is used for treating contracture of limbs, prune sores (syphilis), gonorrhea (cloudy urine and leukorrhea), carbuncle, swollen sores, eczema and itching. The adverse reactions and contraindications of this product are not clear at present. Note that it should be taken with caution by those with deficiency of liver and kidney yin (deficiency of yin fluid in the liver and kidney). If you need to use Licorice and Tu Fu Ling, it should be applied after identification by a Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be taken on its own to avoid adverse consequences.
