General knowledge of eye care for young children

Early childhood eye care is the most important eye care in a lifetime, because it involves whether children’s eyesight develops well, whether amblyopia occurs, and whether they will be nearsighted in the future. If you don’t pay attention to eye care in early childhood, your child’s eyes will benefit for a lifetime; if you don’t pay attention to eye hygiene, it may lead to lifelong low vision or a lifetime of glasses, so you need to actively prevent and do a good job of eye care. The vision of newborn children is only photopic; at the age of 1, it reaches 0.2; at the age of 2, it reaches 0.5; at the age of 3, it reaches 0.7 to 0.8. Most of the visual impairment (amblyopia) in kindergarten is reversible and can be re-developed to normal through amblyopia treatment. The reason for amblyopia (poor vision) in young children: 1, astigmatism: astigmatism is the most common cause of poor vision in young children, astigmatism is a congenital variation that can be simply seen as a “black eye” is not round but oval (like an egg), resulting in a difference in the horizontal and vertical refraction of the eye, forming astigmatism. 100 degrees or more of astigmatism can cause amblyopia. 2. Farsightedness or myopia, especially high farsightedness and high myopia, must cause amblyopia, and it is a refractory amblyopia. This kind of amblyopia is extremely ineffective when treated after the age of 6. 3. Although strabismus and nystagmus are rare, the amblyopia caused is extremely serious. The danger of amblyopia: 1, amblyopia eye vision is poor, watching TV often the more you look closer to the TV. 2, amblyopia can cause poor academic performance, because it can not read the blackboard words. 3, amblyopia can cause stereo vision defects, so that children can not engage in many good jobs in the future. 4, amblyopia can cause lifelong low vision or even blindness. The prevention and treatment of amblyopia: 1. Early detection and treatment: is the key to preventing and treating amblyopia. The earlier amblyopia is detected, the higher the cure rate, the worse the treatment effect after the age of 8, and rarely effective after the age of 12. Therefore, the preschool period (3-7 years old) is the best time to treat amblyopia. The easiest way to detect amblyopia at an early stage is to check the visual acuity. Any child whose visual acuity is lower than 0.9 should go to a hospital (health center) for a dilated eye exam as soon as possible, so that amblyopia can be detected as early as possible. 2, wearing glasses: is the basis for the treatment of amblyopia, such as should wear glasses but not wear, is very difficult to cure amblyopia. Wearing glasses requires standard lenses, good optical center, accurate pupil distance, no loose frames, and reasonable degrees. It is best to go to a dispensing center that has expertise in eye care and is technically competent. 3, cover the healthy eye: when the difference in vision between the two eyes is more than 2 rows, cover the eye with vision of 0.8 or more can lift its inhibition of the poor eye, and let the poor eye get more vision exercise to get good results.
