What causes diastolic blood pressure to fall below 60

Diastolic blood pressure below 60 mmHg is considered hypotension. There are physiologic hypotension and pathologic hypotension. Factors of pathologic hypotension include neurological disorders, endocrine metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disorders, chronic wasting disorders, and hypovolemia. 1. Factors of physiologic hypotension: including pregnancy, dehydration, sudden standing up after sitting or lying down. Physiologic hypotension usually has no obvious symptoms. 2. Pathologic hypotension: (1) Neurological disorders: e.g. myelodysostosis, myasthenia gravis. (2) Endocrine metabolic diseases: for example, severe stenosis of aortic valve or mitral valve, heart failure, polyarteritis, pericardial effusion, etc. (3) Consumptive diseases: for example, malignant tumors, severe tuberculosis to the advanced stage of the disease patients can form low blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure is less than 60 mm Hg. (4) Insufficient blood volume: for example, acute gastroenteritis resulting in vomiting and diarrhea, massive dehydration or excessive use of diuretics, excessive blood loss or excessive sweating may lead to diastolic blood pressure below 60 mmHg. Low diastolic blood pressure may also occur in some older adults with decreased vascular elasticity. It is recommended that patients with diastolic blood pressure less than 60 mmHg should consult a doctor in a timely manner for standardized treatment, and should not take medication on their own to avoid serious adverse consequences.
