Can skin allergies cause abdominal pain?

Recently, a child was sent to the pediatric surgery department of the Affiliated Hospital of Ningda Medical College by the local hospital as a result of recurrent paroxysmal severe abdominal pain, vomiting and other typical symptoms of “acute appendicitis”, and the chief of the department, He Jianhua, found that in addition to the paroxysmal abdominal cramps, the child also had hives on the skin of the whole body. The child’s abdominal pain was significantly relieved compared with before. After three to four days of follow-up treatment, the rash and abdominal pain disappeared and the child was discharged from the hospital. Why would one of the most common skin diseases cause symptoms similar to those of acute appendicitis? When the lesion involves the entire digestive system, the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract becomes congested, edematous and windy, and the gastrointestinal symptoms may appear before or at the same time as the skin symptoms. If you pay attention to the history of pollen, food or drug allergies, and the time of appearance of abdominal pain and rash, you can basically confirm the diagnosis. The treatment of abdominal urticaria can be achieved by using anti-allergic drugs. In mild cases, anti-allergic drugs such as Xithromax, paracetamol, cyproheptadine and vitamin C can be taken orally, while in severe cases, anti-allergic drugs such as hydrocortisone, dexamethasone and calcium gluconate can be injected intravenously.
