Myeloma cells account for 20% or more of the nucleated cells in the bone marrow. Typical myeloma cells are characterized by different cell sizes and morphologies, often appearing in piles, with large nuclei and few nucleoli, 2-4 or more nucleoli, and loose chromatin nuclei often clustered together.
