So who needs surgical treatment?
Simply put anyone with obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome (OSAHS) caused by an anatomical abnormality of the oronasal pharynx or an obstruction by a mass. Common diseases include nasal polyps, turbinate hypertrophy, severe deviation of the nasal septum, tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy, uvula hypertrophy, tongue root and tongue hypertrophy, and various tumors of the nose, throat and pharynx that obstruct the upper whistle, resulting in snoring, sleep apnea and breath-holding. All of the above diseases need to be treated in the Department of Otolaryngology, and some of them are due to maxillary dysplasia and small jaw deformity, which are treated in the Department of Stomatology.
