If the gum is abscessed, you can take cefdinir or cefixime orally; if you are allergic, you can take roxithromycin or azithromycin orally; it is also recommended to use metronidazole tablets or tinidazole tablets. If the abscess is more serious and accompanied by maxillofacial infection, intravenous infusion is required, and cephalosporin or etidimicin sulfate is used routinely, together with ornidazole sodium chloride injection. After the abscess has subsided, the gum area should be checked for calculus irritation, which should be removed by scaling, followed by local rinsing and topical medication. A mouth rinse, such as a compound chlorhexidine rinse or a compound boric acid solution, is commonly used. If the abscessed gums are caused by an apical abscess, root canal treatment is recommended to promote rapid healing of the abscessed gums.
