Patients who have had surgery for ovarian cysts with existing fibroids can usually become pregnant, but there is some risk during pregnancy. Patients with fibroids who have had surgery for ovarian cysts will not be able to get pregnant if they have not had both ovaries removed and can ovulate normally; if the fibroids are small and the patient’s uterus is elastic and good, the fibroids will not have much effect on the pregnancy, and the patient will usually be able to get pregnant normally. However, patients with existing fibroids who have had surgery for ovarian cysts are at some risk during pregnancy. If the fibroids are large, multiple fibroids, or if the fibroids are projecting into the uterine cavity, they may cause failure of the fertilized egg to settle or poor embryonic development, leading to miscarriage. The uterine fundus rises after pregnancy, and fibroids may undergo torsion. It may also cause weak uterine contractions during labor, leading to prolonged labor and excessive postpartum bleeding. Therefore, patients are advised to go to the hospital to complete all aspects of pre-pregnancy checkups before preparing for pregnancy, and under the guidance of the doctor to prepare for pregnancy scientifically, and if necessary, to remove the fibroids before getting pregnant.
