How long does laser surgery for fundus bleeding take?

The time for laser surgery for fundus hemorrhage depends on the type of hemorrhage, the extent of the hemorrhage and the type and number of lasers required. For example, for superior temporal branch vein obstruction, only 1 quadrant of the retina needs to be lasered, and photocoagulation of 1 quadrant takes about half an hour. In diabetic retinopathy, total retinal photocoagulation is done in one eye, one quadrant at a time, and may take 4-5 sessions of total retinal photocoagulation, which may take 2-3 hours in total. Each laser session should be followed by another laser session about 1 week apart, and macular grating-like photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy may take about half an hour at a time.
