Rectal prolapse is a condition in which the mucosa at the end of the rectum breaks away from the wall and bulges out of the anus. This condition can be treated completely through surgery, and the most common surgical method is mucosal resection using an anastomosis. After locating the prolapsed mucosa, a circular suture is placed over the rectal mucosa, usually 3-4 cm above the dentate line of the anal canal, and the prolapsed rectal mucosa is removed using an anastomosis. The whole procedure does not last too long and does not cause much bleeding or painful symptoms. The results of the procedure are very obvious, but it should be noted that rectal prolapse is caused by repeated irritation of the intestinal wall by feces and bacteria, and if poor dietary and lifestyle habits are not improved, rectal prolapse may recur.
