Hashimoto’s thyroiditis with visible nodular lesions is it a nodule?

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. The nodular-like lesions seen in chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis may refer to nodules. Typical symptoms of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis are bilateral diffuse enlargement of the thyroid gland surrounded by nodules, as well as discomfort in the anterior neck area and abnormal thyroid function. Because of the long duration of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, nodular lesions are usually seen on imaging. If the nodules are small and do not have a tendency to become cancerous, no special treatment is needed and regular follow-up is sufficient. If there are suspected nodules, cancerous lesions or accompanied by other tumors, patients can be treated with surgical resection. For patients with chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis with nodules, it is recommended that the patient decide the treatment plan under the judgment of the doctor.
