Why people with gout do not live long

It is wrong to say that people with gout do not live long. Most patients with gout can be stabilized after regular treatment, and their life expectancy is generally not greatly affected. Gout is a crystal-associated arthritis caused by hyperuricemia, mainly manifesting as multi-joint swelling and pain, with typical symptoms of redness, swelling, heat, pain and dysfunction of the first metatarsophalangeal joint, as well as dorsal foot pain, heel pain, and swelling and pain of other joints such as the ankle, knee and hand joints. At present, the main treatment is colchicine or NSAIDs to relieve the symptoms. Usually, long-term treatment with uric acid-lowering drugs, such as febuxostat or benzbromarone, is also recommended to control the blood uric acid below 300 μmol/L.
