There are three major types of dental restorations: implant restorations, fixed restorations, and removable restorations, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. The first type: Implant restoration is a prosthesis supported by surgical implantation of artificial tooth roots, which requires good general health, thicker alveolar bone and good bone quality of the missing teeth. The second type: fixed restoration The fixed dentures are supported by braces of adjacent natural teeth on both sides, which require strong roots of adjacent autogenous teeth on both sides of the missing part, no inflammation, short restoration time, moderate price, more comfortable, convenient and beautiful than movable teeth, but the dental tissues of adjacent teeth on both sides of the missing teeth need to be worn away. The third type: movable restorations The dentures supported by retaining rings and brackets are widely available and inexpensive, but it takes a long time to get used to wearing the teeth, and the dentures have to be removed after meals to clean the mouth, which may have some impact on pronunciation and aesthetics. Each kind of restoration has its advantages and disadvantages, so it is difficult to say in the abstract which restoration is better, only after the doctor’s detailed examination and understanding of the patient’s subjective requirements to develop a reasonable denture placement program. Remember: the best one is the one that suits you.
