In Ganmai Dazao Tang, wheat can nourish the Yin of the Heart, benefit the Qi of the Heart, calm the mind, and get rid of vexation and heat (irritability and sultriness). Licorice nourishes heart qi, harmonizes the middle and eases urgency. Jujubes are sweet, flat and moist, benefiting Qi and harmonizing the middle (tonifying Qi, harmonizing the spleen and stomach), moistening dryness and easing urgency.
