Hemorrhoid edema usually disappears immediately after shearing. Hemorrhoids that simply appear to be edematous do not require surgical shearing in clinical practice, and the edema can subside with the use of medications. Some patients with postoperative hemorrhoids need to remove symptomatic hemorrhoids while preserving asymptomatic hemorrhoids during surgery, or need to preserve more than 50% of the perianal skin around the anus to prevent postoperative anal stenosis. So the stimulation of the surgery or the intraoperative stimulation of medical devices such as the electric knife may lead to local edema of these preserved asymptomatic hemorrhoids, which also needs to be trimmed if severe, and will disappear after trimming.
