Eight warning signs of cancer

People always talk about cancer, and the main scary thing about cancer is that many cancers are late when they are detected, and most cancers are difficult to be cured at late stages (except for a few cancers, so some cancers may be cured at late stages, such as certain types of leukemia, lymphoma, and germ cell tumors). Therefore, early detection of cancer is crucial. In addition to screening for cancer, paying attention to the early signs of cancer is also an important aspect. What are the early signs of cancer? The World Health Organization (WHO) has proposed “eight warning signs” as reference for people to consider the early signs of cancer, which are discussed below. Sign No. 1: Hard nodes or hard changes, lumps, etc. touched in any part of the body. For example, the most common area where lumps and nodules may be felt is the breast. If lumps or nodules are felt in the breast, it is important to pay high attention to them and go to breast or oncology specialists for examination as soon as possible. In addition, the skin is also a common place to touch lumps and nodules, these lumps, nodules, etc., should not be taken lightly, do not think that no discomfort is not a big or small thing, in fact, not painful things may be hidden in the big problem. The second sign: warts (superfluous tumors) or moles have changed significantly. Many people have warts and other things on their bodies, especially on their faces, and moles are more common. Signs three: persistent digestive abnormalities. People eat grains and cereals, occasionally there are some minor illnesses or indigestion and so on, of course, it is normal, which is exactly the reason why we are prone to paralysis of these “minor problems”. For the persistent digestive irregularities, to identify the cause, and not always take for granted as a general “indigestion” or general “gastric cancer” view, just eat some digestive drugs or so-called stomach medicine to deal with the symptoms, but should be to the hospital for specialist Instead, we should go to a hospital for a specialist examination to find out the cause of abnormal digestion. Sign 4: Persistent hoarseness, dry cough and difficulty in swallowing. If hoarseness persists and does not improve, it should be taken seriously. Certain cancers can also cause hoarseness, such as lung cancer and esophageal cancer. The persistent dry cough should be paid more attention to, don’t take the cold for granted, the cold cough is reversible and will not persist, the persistent dry cough that does not improve should be thought of the possibility of lung cancer. The same is true for dysphagia, especially the progressively worsening dysphagia, for example, some obstruction in eating dry rice at the beginning, then obstruction in eating thin rice, and then even difficulty in drinking water, should be highly regarded as esophageal cancer. Sign 5: abnormal menstrual period, heavy bleeding and extra-menstrual bleeding. Occasional abnormal menstrual period, more menstrual volume or longer menstrual period may be disturbed or influenced by other factors, but it usually does not occur continuously and the bleeding volume is usually not too much. If there is continuous abnormal menstrual period or heavy bleeding, or bleeding after menopause, we should go to hospital to find out the cause and exclude the possibility of gynecological tumors, such as cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer. Signs 6: Unexplained bleeding from nose, bladder or intestines. Bleeding from certain parts of the body, such as nose bleeding, blood in urine, blood in stool, may be experienced by many people, but if there is no trauma, no clearly identifiable cause, such as urinary stones, hemorrhoids, etc., it is unexplained bleeding, attention should be paid to early examination to exclude cancer, such as unexplained nose bleeding, there is a possibility of nasopharyngeal cancer; unexplained blood in urine, possible kidney cancer, bladder cancer. Unexplained blood in stool, the possibility of digestive tract cancer. Sign 7: Wounds that do not heal, swelling that does not go away. Everyone has the experience of trauma, and there will be wounds if there is trauma, and wounds can heal easily under normal circumstances. If the wound does not heal, or if the wound does not heal for unknown reasons, it should be taken seriously. If the swelling goes down, such as continuous swelling of both lower limbs, it is likely that there is a problem of obstructed venous return, and the tumor factor should be excluded. Sign 8: Unexplained weight loss. For some reasons, temporary weight loss is reversible, and there are clear and traceable reasons, such as too much workload, poor rest and sleep, reduced eating and weight loss, but afterwards, with the return to normal work and rest and diet, weight also returns to normal. If there is no clear reason for this weight loss, or if the weight loss shows a continuous decline, it should be taken seriously, as one of the manifestations of many cancers is weight loss, and it may not be detected at an early stage. It must be especially noted that the above-mentioned manifestations are not unique to cancer, that is, having these manifestations does not mean that it is definitely cancer, but is only a warning signal that suggests you should pay attention to it and go to the hospital for further examination to find out the cause so as not to miss the opportunity of early detection of cancer.
