The life expectancy of nasopharyngeal cancer patients is related to the pathological type, stage, treatment plan, therapeutic effect of cancer and patients’ individual physical constitution, which cannot be generalized.
Take nasopharyngeal cancer as an example, if it is detected early, treated actively and patients are more sensitive to chemotherapy, the cure rate of the disease can be greatly improved, such as for stage I nasopharyngeal cancer, the five-year survival rate of patients can reach 90%; for stage II nasopharyngeal cancer, the five-year survival rate of patients can reach 80%; for stage III nasopharyngeal cancer, the five-year survival rate of patients can reach 70%; for stage IV nasopharyngeal cancer, the five-year survival rate of patients can reach 50%. For patients who are not sensitive to radiotherapy, the five-year survival rate may only be 5%-10%, and those with serious disease may even die within a short period of time.
Early symptoms of nasopharyngeal cancer are not obvious and easy to be ignored. Therefore, once there is severe nasal congestion and blood in the nose unilaterally, as well as unilateral tinnitus, one should be alert and go to the ENT department of the hospital as early as possible.
