Radiation therapy for oropharyngeal cancer

Oropharyngeal cancer (cancer occurring in the tonsils, tongue root, soft palate or posterior pharyngeal wall) is a common head and neck malignant tumor in Europe and the United States, and the incidence rate is increasing year by year, but the incidence rate of oropharyngeal cancer in China is relatively low. Because of the special anatomical location of the oropharynx, which is crucial to the human body’s swallowing function, radiation therapy has become the main treatment for oropharyngeal cancer. This video material describes the incidence, treatment pattern, lymphatic metastasis pattern, prognostic factors and progress of oropharyngeal cancer. Although it is an academic lecture, the language is easy to understand and can be understood by non-medical people, so we hope it will be helpful to the public.
