A: No polyps will grow. The director of our burn and plastic surgery department operates in strict accordance with Professor Li’s method of oral mucosa removal and vaginal grafting to ensure that the mucosa is spread out in the vagina for three weeks to achieve a seamless docking. There will not be a situation where there is not enough oral mucosa and the vaginal cavity is not fully covered during the operation and a seamless docking is not formed. Usually polyps grow in areas that are not fully covered. Some surgeons believe that the way to prevent this is to lengthen the vaginal crypt by preoperatively using a rigid abrasive device to jackknife the crypt, which will save the oral mucosa. This method is desirable but the process of pressure jacking is painful and patients are advised not to take this approach.
