Food impaction can be treated

Food impaction (commonly known as dental congestion) is a very common condition, especially in the middle-aged and elderly population. According to approximate outpatient estimates, the prevalence of food impaction in the population over the age of 45 is over 90%. Food impaction is also very common after porcelain crown restorations and after dental implant restorations. Food impaction is an extremely serious risk to oral health. The most common ones are as follows: 1. Food impaction can cause pressure in the interdental space and make the patient feel strongly uncomfortable. 2. 2, long-term food embedment in the mouth is easy to have bad odor. 3, food embedding will cause sensitivity of the teeth on both sides of the embedding site. 4.Food embedment will cause dental caries, pulpitis and periapical inflammation on both sides of the embeded teeth. 5.Food embedment will cause inflammation and bleeding of gums at the embedment site. 6.Food embedding will cause gum recession, alveolar bone resorption, tooth loosening, and eventually lead to tooth extraction. There are few studies on food embedding at home and abroad. In China, since the 1950s, all levels and versions of dental textbooks believe that there is a class of food embedding is caused by gum recession, and so far, the recession of the gums can not be regenerated, so it is logical that this class of food embedding is an incurable disease. As a result, the vast majority of dentists have justifiably given up on treating these patients with food impaction, and they have even given up on researching food impaction because textbooks for more than half a century have given them a deep-rooted notion that this type of food impaction is incurable. When a patient has food impaction, the doctor will usually tell the patient that it is due to the atrophy of the substrate of the tooth and that there is nothing that can be done about it, and then the doctor will tell the patient to use a toothpick or floss to clean out the embedded food after eating. Is this really the case? After several years of intensive research, the authors found that the textbook belief that food impaction is caused by gum recession does not exist, and that all food impaction is treatable, and we have now accumulated a total of about 500 cases of food impaction that were considered untreatable in the past. Food impaction is forgotten by patients because they are not fully aware of the danger of food impaction. Food impaction is forgotten by doctors because they think it is incurable. So, if you also have a problem with food impaction, please pay attention to this problem, and if your dentist says there is nothing you can do (99.99% probability), then you may want to see Dr. Fang at the Department of Endodontics of Beijing Dental Hospital.
