Bile Drainage Post-Operative Considerations

Biliary drainage is a common treatment for obstructive jaundice. After biliary drainage, you need to pay attention to the following matters: 1. Avoid large movements to prevent the drainage tube from falling off; 2. Observe the color of the drainage tube to see if there is any bleeding; 3. Pay attention to the hygiene around the drainage tube, and carry out regular medication change on the puncture site and regular replacement of the drainage bag; 4. If the patient has a prolonged period of biliary drainage, it will lead to electrolyte disorder and nutrient loss. So after bile drainage, if there is no inflammation in the bile duct and the bile drainage is golden yellow, you can consider drinking the drained bile after filtering to avoid electrolyte loss; 5. Bile drainage is only a palliative treatment for jaundice, and it has no therapeutic effect on tumor. Therefore, after the elimination of jaundice, further treatment should be done for the tumor.
