What causes cold calves?

Cold calves may be caused by physiological reasons such as low ambient temperature, but it cannot be ruled out that it may be caused by pathological reasons such as lumbar intervertebral disc herniation and arteriosclerosis occlusive disease of the lower limbs. 1. Physiological reasons When blowing cold air-conditioning in a closed bedroom or office, or when you are outside in winter, due to the low temperature of the surrounding environment, not paying attention to the calves to keep warm may lead to poor blood circulation in the legs, and the situation of cold calves occurs. 2. Pathological causes (1) Herniated lumbar intervertebral disc: when suffering from herniated lumbar intervertebral disc, the protruding intervertebral disc will compress the surrounding blood vessels, spinal cord, nerves and other substances, which affects the operation of the blood, and will easily lead to poor circulation in the lower limbs, and the supply of blood around the calves is less, which will make the patients’ calves appear to be cold, and may be accompanied by painful symptoms at the same time. (2) Lower limb arteriosclerosis: when atherosclerosis involves the lower limb arteries, it may lead to narrowing and occlusion of the lower limb arteries, resulting in ischemia and hypoxia of the lower limbs, which may cause the patient to experience the symptoms of cold calves. Patients with cold calves should go to the hospital for relevant examinations in time, and after clarifying the cause of the disease, choose the appropriate method of treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
