Wind-heat cold, belonging to the category of Chinese medicine, can be treated by taking medicines, such as Yin Qiao San, and acupuncture, such as taking acupuncture points of Taiyin and Yangming meridians.
1. Medications: Wind-heat colds can be treated with Chinese medicines such as Yin Qiao San, Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid, Sang Ju Cold Tablets, etc., but those with wind-cold colds are not suitable.
Yin Qiao San is composed of honeysuckle, forsythia and mint. It has the efficacy of “pungent-cooling and transmitting the surface” (using pungent-cooling medicines to transmute and disperse the evil qi on the surface of the muscles), and clearing away heat and detoxification. It is used for wind-heat cold, fever and headache, dry mouth and cough, sore throat, and short and red urine (small amount of urine with dark yellow color).
Shuanghuanglian Oral Liquid, composed of honeysuckle, scutellaria baicalensis and forsythia. It has the efficacy of dispersing wind and relieving surface, clearing heat and removing toxins. It is used for colds and flu caused by external wind-heat, with fever, cough and sore throat.
Sang Ju Cold & Flu Tablet is composed of mulberry leaf, chrysanthemum and forsythia. It has the efficacy of dispersing wind and clearing heat, promoting lung to stop cough (stopping cough by promoting lung qi). It is used for the beginning of wind-heat cold, headache and cough.
2. Acupuncture and moxibustion: Hand Taiyin and Hand Yangming meridian points are the main points, with Quchi and Da Shi and other points. It is worth reminding that acupuncture needs to use the diarrhea method, in order to achieve the purpose of wind detoxification.
It is important to note that if you suffer from wind-heat colds, it is recommended that you consult a doctor in a timely manner and choose the appropriate treatment under the guidance of the doctor’s diagnosis, in order to prevent the condition from worsening.
