Several common problems of facial palsy

It’s hot, and while we enjoy the coolness brought by air conditioners and fans, we should beware of facial palsy. What does facial palsy mean? Facial palsy is a common name for facial nerve paralysis. It is mainly manifested by skewing the mouth and eyes to one side, so it is also called “skewed mouth and eyes”. The corners of the mouth droop to the healthy side, etc. How can we determine which side of the face is paralyzed? The affected side of the face is often unable to close the eyes, frown, leak air when the mouth is puffed, or whistle. Why does facial palsy occur? This disease is mostly due to local stimulation by wind, cold and cold, and the patient’s lack of positive qi, the veins are empty, and the external guard is not solid, so wind-cold and wind-heat will take advantage of the deficiency and cause peripheral nerve paralysis, so we can see the so-called “crooked mouth and eyes”. What should we do to prevent it? First of all, to avoid the cause, the face to avoid air conditioning and fans blowing directly on the head and face; secondly, pay attention to the five labor injuries in the “long lying injury qi”, many people due to spleen dampness trapped obstruction, spleen qi weakness, resulting in fatigue, drowsiness and other performance; furthermore, usually should improve physical quality, improve the body’s positive qi, we should start from the spleen and stomach health We advocate the prevention of dietary therapy, when making soup, we can put in Chen Pi, yam (Chinese yam), ginseng, ginseng, jujube, etc. to strengthen the spleen, and Job’s tear, Poria, etc. to strengthen the spleen and dampness. The “Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach” is represented by the tonic for the spleen and qi soup. If facial paralysis is present, how should it be treated? Treatment is divided into an acute phase (within 1 week) and a recovery phase. In the acute period, the acupuncture points on the face are usually not taken, but distal acupuncture points, such as the Hegu point on the healthy side (facial mouth Hegu collection) and Taichong (with the valley as the “Four Pass points”), and the affected side of the foot Sanli and outer lower Sanli for strong stimulation. During the recovery period, local acupuncture points, such as Yangbai, Sibai, Chee Chee, Di Cang, Cataract, etc., together with extremity acupuncture points such as Hegu, Taichong, Foot San Li on the healthy side, etc., are stimulated with intermittent waves of electroacupuncture instrument for 20 minutes and red light irradiation, with good effect. What can patients do on their own? Rub the “cataract” point, which is the point where the facial nerve branches out and governs the temporal, buccal, mandibular and cervical branches of the facial nerve, and rub the “hegu” point more often; chew more gum to help the corners of the mouth recover; avoid wind and cold stimulation of the face.
