Can you walk with a torn cruciate ligament?

It is possible to walk after a cruciate ligament rupture, and although it is possible to walk, the stability of the knee joint will be drastically reduced. The reason why the cruciate ligament is in the middle of the knee joint is that it plays an important role in physiological and anatomical stability of the knee joint, especially in avoiding excessive forward or backward movement of the knee joint. Once the cruciate ligament is ruptured, the stability of the knee joint decreases dramatically, even though you can walk. Walking is particularly likely to lead to joint instability and, in severe cases, can lead to joint dislocation. Therefore, surgery is required to rebuild the ligament after a cruciate ligament rupture.
