After entering adolescence, as their minds mature, many children will gradually appear a rebellious mentality, and more common in boys. They are mentally independent and eager to get rid of the guardianship of adults, and often show a confrontational behavior with teachers or parents, which is a big headache for many parents.
So, how long is the rebellious period of adolescence? When does it usually start and when does it end?
There are three different opinions about how long adolescent rebellion lasts.
1. Clinically, it is commonly believed that the adolescent rebellion period is generally between the ages of 12 and 16 (some believe that it is between the ages of 12 and 18). Usually, after puberty, boys start to develop laryngeal nodes and reproductive organs, while girls develop breasts and menstruation, and gradually enter the rebellious period with the appearance of secondary sexual characteristics, which usually lasts from 2 to 6 years, and can even last longer.
2.There are also studies that indicate that the rebellious period of adolescence is most evident in adolescents aged 13 to 18.
3, Others believe that a child’s rebellious period begins as early as 10~12 years old and ends at 16~20 years old, usually lasting about 6 years, with individuals lasting until 24 years old.
This is because, according to surveys, because the environment in which children live today is much more complex than the environment in which their parents lived at that time, their adolescent rebellious period is 1~2 years earlier than that of their parents, and they are also under more pressure.
And it is generally believed that around 14 years old is the peak age of rebellious behavior during adolescent rebellion.
Around the age of 14, especially in boys, the sense of independence and self-awareness will be particularly evident. It is important to note that adolescent rebellion is not a non-healthy psychological state in itself, but if the reaction is too strong during this period, then it will become an abnormal psychology and it is recommended to consult a psychiatric psychiatrist if necessary.
Many parents are troubled by their children’s rebellious teenage years, so can the rebellious teenage years end early?
Studies have shown that the duration of adolescent rebellion is often related to family education and living environment, and good family education, such as respect for children, benign communication, and timely and correct guidance, can help children successfully pass the adolescent rebellion period earlier to a certain extent.
